Ireland In Us FATCA Talks.
The Irish Revenue Commissioners has confirmed that they are in discussions with the US Treasury over the possibility of entering into a "model agreement" for implementing America's Foreign Account Tax Compiance Act (FATCA). This news is seen as significant in view of Ireland's large funds management industry.
A statement by the Irish Funds Industry Association stated any agreed approach would be based on domestic tax reporting legislation and automatic exchange of information under existing bilateral tax treaties.
